Why it caught our eye

Tying the whole party to the same rope is a wonderfully cruel starting point for a tactics game. Every rescue becomes everyone’s problem. We’re drawn to that tension: the difference between a clever anchor and a very expensive act of optimism.

Ice, avalanches, crumbling rock and toxic plants would already be enough. Ascenders adds something living inside the mountain, permanent deaths and survivors who carry their trauma into the next expedition. The release has moved to 2027.
